About the project: An old timer!
We recently bought a home from close family friends, a house that was literally built in the 1940s and 1950s. We weren’t really looking to buy another home, but this one had so much history and sentimental value that we couldn’t walk away. Without a home loan or construction loan, we decided to self‑fund everything and bring it back to life, one step at a time.
As you can see from the “before” photos, the house was in rough shape. Michael from DK Services was truly a godsend—he worked with our timeline and, most importantly, our budget, tackling each phase as we were able to fund it. He stuck with us from start to finish and literally helped rebuild this home from the floors to the ceilings.
One of the biggest surprises was being able to save all the original wood flooring, which meant a lot given the age and character of the home. Michael’s quotes for each phase were more than fair, especially compared to some of the shockingly high bids we received from others. His honesty, flexibility, and willingness to pause and restart work throughout the year made this project possible for us.
